HVDC Transmission O&M Project Engineer required for a major Offshore Wind Farm Developer based in England.
Responsibilities
* Co-ordinate rectification of unexpected faults and alarms in HVDC systems, both onshore and offshore, to ensure minimal disruption to operations.
* Manage root cause analysis to identify and rectify system issues.
* Liaise with the OEM to provide real-time technical support and escalation where necessary.
* Conduct on-site inspections to assess and address unplanned equipment or system issues.
* Coordinate and supervise repair activities carried out by contractors or OEMs, ensuring adherence to safety and quality standards.
* Provide clear and concise updates to stakeholders during reactive maintenance activities, including progress, risks, and expected resolution times.
* Ensure alignment with internal and external teams for smooth operations.
* Identify and arrange for the procurement and/or deployment of spare parts required for urgent repairs.
* Assist in the coordination of the logistics for offshore personnel and equipment as needed to address reactive maintenance.
* Offer day-to-day technical advice to the O&M team, focusing on immediate issues that arise.
* Assist in the review of system performance data to predict and mitigate potential risks.
* Ensure all reactive maintenance activities comply with HSE standards and company procedures.
* Conduct real-time risk assessments during urgent maintenance events and implement mitigating actions as required.
* Work closely with the OEM to address reactive engineering needs beyond their contractual scope, ensuring timely support and resolution.
* Manage third-party contractors engaged for urgent engineering tasks outside the OEM agreement.
* Capture insights and lessons learned from reactive maintenance activities to improve future response strategies and system reliability.
* Collaborate with the team to propose preventative measures based on recurring issues.
* Place call-off orders for services, spare parts, and equipment as required.
* Manage maintenance contracts that fall outside the OEM scope, ensuring alignment with company standards and budgets.
* Track, prioritize, and manage the resolution of defects identified during inspections or maintenance.
* Liaise with the OEM and other contractors to ensure timely and effective defect resolution.
* Analyse performance and maintenance data to identify trends, risks, and opportunities for improvement.
* Develop and present technical reports to stakeholders for informed decision-making.
Requirements
* Minimum of 5 years in high voltage systems, HVDC, or O&M roles.
* BEng/ MEng degree in Engineering - HNC with sufficient experience will be considered.
* IOSH/NEBOSH Certified.
* GWO Basic Safety Training (BST).
* GWO Advanced Rescue Training (ART).
* HUET (Helicopter Underwater Escape Training) or equivalent.
* OGUK Medical Certification.
* Previous involvement in offshore wind farm maintenance or similar infrastructure.
* Knowledge of KPI reporting and performance reporting processes.
* Experience with long-term service agreements and OEM contract management.
* Knowledge of HVDC technology and related equipment.
* Familiarity with preventative and corrective maintenance processes.
* Proficient in asset management software (e.g., SAP).
* Excellent communication and stakeholder management abilities.
* Strong problem-solving and decision-making skills.
* Ability to work in a dynamic, offshore team environment.
* Willingness to undertake offshore travel for maintenance campaigns.
* Flexibility to adapt to changing schedules and urgent requirements.
* Knowledge of HV Operational Safety Rules within wind industry application.
* Fluent written and verbal English with good communication skills.
* Good standard of IT literacy (Word, Excel, Outlook etc.)
* Must be self-motivated and driven to achieve objectives.
