Job Purpose
To provide expert advice and guidance on HR matters, working alongside members of the HR and wider People team whilst reporting to the HR Manager. Day to day the role holder will be liaising with managers, colleagues and senior stakeholders on a range of topics in accordance with policies, procedures and employment law.
Key Responsibilities
* Manage a busy and varied ER case load and work closely with all members of the HR team to proactively assist in the efficient and effective running of the HR function.
* Provide high level HR advice and guidance to all areas of the business, whilst ensuring processes are well managed and meet the requirements of business policies and employment legislation.
* Play an integral part in the HR team and support the HR Coordinators in their continuous growth and development.
* Assist in the management of health concerns and occupational health referrals.
* Use initiative and ER knowledge to suggest and implement changes to processes and procedures, to help align the workforce with the strategic goals of the organisation.
* Consistently demonstrate and support in fostering a culture of employee engagement, wellbeing and inclusiveness.
* Support the HR Manager in working closely with Department Heads and Line Managers, to provide them with guidance, coaching and support on all HR activities, to ensure a consistent and fair approach to people management.
* Support the HR Manager in the development and maintenance of HR policies and procedures, to ensure fair and consistent management throughout the business.
* Maintain up to date knowledge of developments within HR and Employment Law. Both in terms of statutory rules, case law and current issues.
* Support the delivery of ad-hoc projects as required.
Experience And Knowledge
* Proven HR generalist experience with a strong understanding of employment law and HR best practice.
* Resilient and confident operating in a fast paced and at times challenging environment.
* Experience in managing a busy ER caseload, with the ability to prioritise and delegate when necessary.
* Commercially aware and demonstrates an understanding of the wider business.
* Willingness to ‘go the extra mile’ when required to be in the office / volunteer at events representing the business.
* Proactive and self-motivated with a proven ability to work autonomously and flexibly, using own initiative.
* Driven team player with a professional approach at all times.
* Excellent communication, interpersonal and numeric skills, to include providing written and verbal advice in a clear concise manner to a high standard, with excellent attention to detail.
* The ability to challenge using the qualities of patience, sensitivity, diplomacy and integrity.
* Excellent time management and organisational skills.
* Ability to work effectively with people across a wide range of levels and responsibilities and build relationships with key stakeholders, whilst influencing, persuading, coaching and using negotiating skills.
* Demonstrable experience of working within a fast-paced environment.
* Excellent IT skills with a sound working knowledge of MS Office.
Desirables
* Experience in designing and delivering short training sessions.
* Previous experience in the Legal or Insurance industry.
* Experience supervising, supporting or providing constructive feedback to less experienced team members to support professional development.
