Job summary
Applications are invited to apply for a Consultant Cardiologist with an interest in Interventional Cardiology at Milton Keynes University Hospital NHS Foundation Trust.
This is a new post, created specifically to support and develop the nascent interventional cardiology service at Milton Keynes University Hospital (MKUH) which has been developed in close collaboration with Oxford University Hospitals (OUH). The duties of the post are shared between MKUH and OUH. The majority of the postholder's duties will be delivered at MKUH but it is a condition of the appointment that the postholder will provide sessions at the John Radcliffe Hospital in Oxford.
In close collaboration with the interventional and surgical teams in Oxford, the successful candidate will help coordinate the interventional cardiology service at MKUH on a day-to-day basis, facilitating optimal care for patients with acute and chronic coronary syndromes, attending MKUH and OUH MDTs and providing specialist clinics. They will also contribute to all aspects of the inpatient and outpatient general cardiology service at MKUH.

The post-holder will contribute to Saturday ACS coronary lists at the John Radcliffe Hospital, aligned with their on-call commitment (currently 1 in 8).
All consultant cardiologists in MKUH participate in a consultant of the week rota for general cardiology, currently approx. 2 in 13 weeks. On these occasions the job plan is modified to undertake cardiology ward rounds, cover advice and guidance and provide support for acute cardiology referrals. This commitment is reviewed periodically and may change.
