Job summary
We are looking for someone to join our small, friendly pharmacy team based at Fulbourn Hospital.
We are looking for a pharmacy technician, or soon-to-be registered pharmacy technician to help with the service our dispensary provides to local community rehabilitation hospitals and to contribute to our ward-based medicines management service. The successful candidate will co-ordinate incoming work from our external hospital sites - acting as a focus point and trouble-shooter, and have some responsibility to regularly visit an inpatient mental health ward to provide a medicines supply and advice service in combination with the ward pharmacist. You will contribute to activities such as dispensing, stock control and ordering, final accuracy checking, ward medicines management duties and policy/procedure development for the complete dispensary service.
You will work with other members of the dispensary team and the wider pharmacy team to support good medicines management across our services.
We appreciate that applicants may take an interest but worry about having limited experience or need some training to develop their skills. We'll help with that too! On appointment, we will work with you to address your skills and learning needs and do what we can to support your development.
Main duties of the job
At Fulbourn Hospital we provide a medicines supply service to local community rehabilitation hospitals (at Brookfields Hospital and Princess of Wales Hospital) and to mental health wards and teams in the local area. We are looking for a pharmacy technician to join our team, to help support us in delivering this service.
The post holder will contribute to two main aspects of our service:
* To support the dispensary manager in the provision of medicines to all wards and teams and support the dispensing and final checking of items. They will be expected to be the main trouble-shooter for the provision of medicines for the rehabilitation hospitals to promote safe and effective supply in a timely manner.
In addition, the post holder will contribute to general duties in the dispensary and to medicines management services across the Trust.
* To contribute to ward-based medicines management duties to mental health wards. The post holder will develop skills to work with other members of the clinical pharmacy team to help with duties such as medicines supply, patient's own drug assessments, medicines reconciliation, patient history taking and counselling.
This is a great opportunity to build both dispensary and ward-based experience. The role will also allow for continued professional development in mental health and general medicine fields.
