Bath and North East Somerset Council are looking for a Deputy Team Manager for the Leaving Care Team (Care Experienced Team) within the Care Outcomes Service.

About the role:
Responsibilities include deputising for the Team Manager as and when necessary and to assist in all managerial functions relating to the smooth running and delivery of a gold star service to those who are Care Experienced. You will assist the Team Manager in ensuring a high-quality service to young people; focussed on good outcomes with timely interventions at the right level; within statutory guidelines and within given resource and budget availability and you will model good management by taking professional responsibility for the provision of a high quality and responsive service.
You will also assist the Team Manager in supervising and supporting Personal Advisors and the Employment, Education and Training Mentor to ensure young people are safeguarded and their welfare promoted and develop services to improve the offer to our Care Experienced Young People. Ideally you will have management and supervisory experience or will have relevant experience of supporting less experienced workers in a social care setting.
You will oversee and quality assure Pathway Plans/Transition Planning in addition to improving the quality of work undertaken by personal advisors and mentors in the team, including effective case management, purposeful evidence-based interventions and high-quality written work.
About you:
Applicants must be confident in writing and quality assuring professional assessments/reports/plans as well as presenting their views verbally in meetings at various levels and with partner agencies. Applicants need to have very strong organisational values and will be committed to working as part of a team to support colleagues in delivering optimum services to young people.
The successful candidate will have:
* A recognised professional Social Work qualification (e.g., Degree in Social Work, Dip SW or CQSW) with extensive post qualifying experience, including statutory work with children & families, preferably including some experience of targeted and specialist support with Care experienced Young Adults
* Registered with Social Work England
* A detailed knowledge of the Children Act 1989 and Care Leavers Act (2000) and related regulations and guidance
* A detailed knowledge of the “Framework for the Assessment of Children and Their Families”
* Experience of working in partnership with professional agencies and families
* Ability to build empathetic and supportive relationships with children/young people and their families
* Ability to chair meetings and formulate Pathway Plans and Transition Plans
* An acceptable enhanced DBS check
* Ideally you will have supervisory experience, and/or a PEPS qualification
* Knowledge of theory and practice applicable to social work
* IT skills to enable operation of standard electronic systems
* Well-developed emotional literacy
* Passion, commitment, and motivation to support the most vulnerable care experienced young people
