Looking for a Principal Control System Engineer for a pivotal Senior Dispatch Systems Engineer to work on High Speed Two, this is a unique opportunity for an experienced control systems engineer to working for the client organisation on the largest infrastructure project in Europe and develop a novel Train Dispatch system. This cutting-edge system will involve advanced technology and operational procedures designed to ensure smooth, efficient and importantly safe boarding of trains. This is novel first of its kind technology and a step change in railway innovation & safety. The Senior Dispatch Systems Engineer is SME (technical authority for train dispatch) provides technical and professional support for the train dispatch systems. Responsibilities include delivering workstreams such as development of requirements, standards, technical specifications and system architectures for the train dispatch systems at HS2 stations. They provide technical assurance that design and construction of the train dispatch systems assets meet project requirements and work to resolve issues where appropriate. The tender is due to be awarded end of 2025 and so will be part of the tender evaluation team Key Responsibilities: Specifying and developing requirements, standards, technical specifications & system architecture for the train dispatch system. After tender award, technical assurance of the system design taking the product through the project lifecycle. Act as the technical authority on the project, ensuring the design, build, and testing phases align with best practices and client requirements. Represent the client during project phases, providing leadership and guidance through the entire system implementation. We are looking for engineers with a systems engineering background who can manage complex control systems. Ideal candidates may come from a variety of backgrounds, such as: Knowledge of development, design and construction of video surveillance systems, driver only operation systems and systems providing Safety Integrity Level 2 (BS EN50128) functionality (specific to rail industry or other relevant standard). Interested in Control System Engineer / comms engineer with railway experience that’s have expertise in areas such as Automated Passenger Counting (APC), Platform Management, Train Departure Control, and Communication-Based Train Control (CBTC). Traffic Management Systems Aircraft Control Systems ERTMS (European Rail Traffic Management System), particularly Train Management (TM) systems, would be highly beneficial plus other digital TM systems This is a novel system, and we welcome candidates from diverse fields although knowledge of the operational railway is an advantage. Working Situation The office location is London, Euston or Birmingham and they operate a flexible hybrid working model working around 2 days a week from the office.
