At our GKN Filton site, we specialise in the design and manufacture of large complex structural wing assemblies, detailed metallic componentsand wing systems for a combination of both civil and military aircraft. Our new supplier quality engineer will be responsible for working within the GKN Procurement business discharging Manufacturing Engineer and Quality activities, as part of a multi-functional team for bought out parts and raw materials. The successful applicant will work primarily at our GKN Filton site working between office and shop floor, however the role will also involve visiting other GKN sites and supplier sites as required. This is a full-time permanent role, 37.5 hours per week Monday-Friday, however some flexibility may be required around business requirements and anticipated travel. How You'll Contribute Continuous reduction of supplier non-conformance through agreed enabler plans in line with site targets utilising GKN and customer driven reduction tools and programmes i.e SQIP Management of supplier Concessions, reduction plans and performance indicators Management of supplier Quality Notifications, supplier responses, reduction plans and performance indicators Management of supplier R1, reduction plans and performance indicators Management of supplier 8D immediate customer protection within 48 hours and 90 day closure. Investigation and escalation of supplier notification of escapes. First Article Inspection planned and executed with required timescales Deployment of New Product Introduction and modification Manufacturing Engineering and quality activities, supplier approvals, gate review readiness, process qualification, product5 specifications / condition of supply and first article review in accordance with program requirements Compliance with all risk assessments and company Environment, Health & Safety Procedures relevant to all work activities. Reporting of all accidents and near misses as per the companys procedure and implementation of identified corrective actions. Maintain good standards of housekeeping in designated work area(s) Champion Export Control compliance activities, ensuring you and where applicable, members of your team, adhere to the site Technology Control Plan (TCP), guaranteeing compliance with Export Control Regulations, controls, training and systems What You'll Bring The successful applicant will be comfortable liaising and building relationships with suppliers, there will be a strong element of customer management within this role (both internal and external) In addition, youll require the following skills and attributes: Essential: Recognised engineering apprenticeship (level 3 C&G, NVQ or equivalent) Understanding of manufacturing processes Proven track record in supplier engineering and quality management (AS9100 ideally) Excellent IT Skills (Proficiency in Excel) Desirable: Previously worked on a hybrid basis between office and site/supplier as required Experience using SAP Degree qualified to HNC/HND level within an engineering discipline What We'll Offer Once youre on board youll get the following perks and benefits: ?
