The BIM team in HMRC has been set up to optimise internal building information management capability and facilitate efficiency gains across HMRCs Estate. Sat within HMRCs Estates Professional Services, the team is focused on delivering the range of benefits associated with the BIM models for our new Regional Centres, including the opportunity to develop a critical element towards HMRCs Digital estate vision as we grow to include our other HMRC sites. This is an exciting time to lead a team that is redefining the way HMRC utilises its building information to support strategic decision making and critical estates functions with BIM widely regarded as a key component in the delivery of HMRC estates strategic objectives including its target to achieve Net Zero by 2040.
The role is to manage and coordinate delivery of Building Information Modelling (BIM) in HMRC. It will involve participation in developing and maintaining BIM standards and techniques, will support project teams in implementing these solutions, and will support FM service delivery teams in making best use of this approach. The post will play a major role in shaping BIM across HMRCs new estate & become an integral function allowing HMRC to work as an intelligent client. Furthermore, the BIM function will provide clarity of the estate contents and allow for a robust and clear relationship with service providers.
Key Responsibilities
* To own, manage and promote BIM implementation and integration within HMRC including training and education of colleagues across HMRC estates functions, promoting best practice to ensure adoption and use.
* To support the development and agreement of clear concise BIM implementation strategies at tender & project stages and as Facilities Management (FM) begins.
* To be accountable for the technical integrity of the BIM models ( Revit files ) with internal work flows and BIM protocols established to allow HMRC Estates colleagues to obtain building information easily, and to maintain the accuracy of the BIM models.
* Maintain current knowledge of BIM and other design software, industry developments & integrated practice to ensure the BIM team upholds its responsibilities as Intelligent client.
* Lead and act as the first line of contact for all technical and process related issues associated with the BIM delivery, providing support to teams where required.
* Develop internal BIM methodologies, performance management measures, KPIs and create relevant procedures to include templates, naming conventions and folder structures.
* Develop BIM for asset management and other disciplines as required.
* Work closely with the Digital Estate and Asset Management teams to ensure BIM data is used as the single source of truth for HMRC estates buildings.
* Ensure projects are delivered in accordance with HMRC Exchange Information Requirements (EIR) / Organisational Information Requirements (OIR), BIM Execution Plans (BEP).
* Line management responsibilities.
Essential Criteria:
* Ability to resolve BIM design issues, develop and enforce BIM documentation and workflow processes
* Ability to act as an auditor for model compliance, quality control and troubleshoot problems
* A good understanding of ISO19650 and how to implement the standard to every day life.
* Experienced using Auto-desk Revit and demonstrable knowledge of auditing BIM Models.
Desirable Criteria:
* Excellent analytical and communication skills.
* Proficiency in AutoDesk Revit, MS Office Outlook, Word and Excel.
* Strong team player with leadership skills.
* An education up to a minimum of bachelor degree level is desirable or extensive experience in the relevant field with associated professional qualification
