We are seeking a passionate and dedicated History Teacher to join a thriving secondary school in Braintree. This full-time, permanent role offers an exciting opportunity to inspire students and develop their understanding of history, critical thinking, and global perspectives.
As a History Teacher, you will be responsible for delivering engaging and thought-provoking lessons, encouraging students to explore the past and develop analytical and evaluative skills. You will work within a supportive and forward-thinking school environment, ensuring students gain a deep appreciation of historical events and their relevance to the modern world.
This role is ideal for an experienced educator who is committed to high-quality teaching and curriculum innovation. Prior experience is preferred, and professional development opportunities will be available.
Key Responsibilities:
* Plan and deliver engaging and interactive History lessons, aligned with the national curriculum.
* Teach historical concepts, events, and critical analysis skills at Key Stage 3 and Key Stage 4.
* Inspire students to think critically, question perspectives, and engage in meaningful discussions.
* Adapt teaching strategies to support a range of learning needs and abilities.
* Assess and monitor student progress, providing constructive feedback and individualised support.
* Foster a positive and inclusive classroom environment that encourages independent learning.
* Collaborate with colleagues to enhance the school’s Humanities curriculum.
* Maintain high expectations for student behaviour and achievement, in line with school policies.
* Uphold safeguarding responsibilities and ensure the welfare of all students.
Qualifications and Experience:
* Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) or equivalent.
* A strong knowledge of the History curriculum, including GCSE and A-Level standards.
* Experience teaching in a secondary school setting is preferred.
* A passion for engaging students through innovative and interactive teaching methods.
* Excellent communication, organisation, and classroom management skills.
* A commitment to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children and young people.
