Specialist Physiotherapist - Paediatrics Acute
An exciting opportunity has arisen for an enthusiastic, dynamic and flexible physiotherapist with an interest in paediatrics to join the inpatient paediatric physiotherapy service in the Family Care Division.
Having gained experience of core clinical areas, this post will provide you with opportunities to further develop your practice within the field of paediatrics. The post holder will assess and treat paediatric patients on our children's ward, our neonatal unit and within our community respiratory service.
As part of the wider MDT, you will be given the chance to enhance your clinical skills, gain experience of student education, participate in the delivery of training and develop your leadership and supervisory skills. High quality support will be provided by the Band 7 Clinical Specialist Physiotherapist, experienced team members and Team Leader in line with the trust supervision policy.
Main duties of the job
To provide specialist paediatric physiotherapy input to the children's ward at the Royal Bolton Hospital. May include some neonatal and community respiratory experience/cover.
Job responsibilities
1. To assess and treat children, in a variety of settings, having gained valid informed consent for a diverse and complex range of pathologies.
2. To use advanced clinical reasoning, problem solving skills and assessment techniques to provide an accurate diagnosis of a patient's condition and to formulate a specialised programme of care and comprehensive discharge plan.
3. To provide health promotion advice to patients.
4. To use a wide range of therapeutic techniques/skills to deliver individual physiotherapy treatment programmes having agreed physiotherapy goals with patients/carers.
5. To review/reflect on own and your teams practice and performance through effective use of supervision, appraisal and peer review.
6. To provide advice/education, teaching and instruction to relatives, carers and other professionals, to promote understanding of the aims of physiotherapy and to ensure consistent approach to patient care.
7. To have an understanding of other Allied Health Professionals roles and contribute to the wider MDT.
8. To give advice and training on safe handling techniques and treatment programmes to patients/carers, education providers and other health and social care professionals as required.
9. To maintain clinical skills to enable participation in the on call/weekend rotas.
10. To be responsible for the education, supervision and leadership of less experienced staff, assistants (including other professions) and students to ensure that patients receive appropriate, timely physiotherapy intervention.
