Our client are specialists in the acquisition, development, refurbishment, and operation/management of purpose-built student accommodation (PBSA). Priding themselves on delivering a first-class service in all the areas they touch upon.
On a trajectory of growth acquiring more and more properties it is an exciting time to join the business and be a part of their success story. The key purpose of this role is to assist the Director of Acquisitions, to identify investment and development opportunities to add value to the existing portfolio including undertaking transaction negotiation and management of the sourced opportunities.
The role requires liaison with Internal and external stakeholders including JV investment partners, property consultants and legal advisors to help secure new acquisitions or execute post-acquisition tasks.
The key tasks for the role will be:
1. Identify and evaluate suitable assets and sites.
2. Assist the Director of Acquisitions in implementing a plan to proactively source acquisition opportunities.
3. Appraise existing properties for student accommodation (PBSA) across target university cities.
4. Negotiation of purchase agreements (Head of Terms) with owners.
5. Undertaking Investment and development reviews of opportunities received.
6. Transaction Management - To assist the Director of Acquisitions with the due diligence required to secure acquisitions to legal completion, and liaison with all the appropriate internal/external stakeholders to ensure a smooth transition between Acquisition, Operations, Project Management and Facilities Management.
7. Investment Committee report preparation for internal and external stakeholders to include JV Partners and external property consultants.
8. Carrying out research on areas of interest.
9. Analysis of market reports, property information and gathering Market intelligence relative to target cities, or sites.
10. To deal with other tasks as prioritized by the Director of Acquisitions or CEO.
Academic & Professional Qualifications
• Educated to Degree Level within a relevant field relating to real estate.
Skills:
1. 2+ Years within the real estate industry.
2. Knowledge and understanding of the fundamentals behind the UK property market, regulations and processes. Knowledge of the student sector is preferable but not essential.
3. Ability to develop a good network of contacts in the sector.
4. Strong Collaboration, Influencing and relationship building skills.
5. Strong appraisal and valuation skills - with good understanding of property appraisals, DCF’s and residual development models.
6. Excellent knowledge of Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint & Outlook.
7. Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
8. Strong organisational skills and attention to detail.
