We are looking for a Specialist Support Worker to work in Thorndale Life House in Belfast.

Key Responsibilities:
The Specialist Support Worker at Thorndale Life House is critical to providing an enhanced level of support within our service for our complex needs clients. Thorndale Life House has 31 self-contained, furnished flats, consisting of 27 flats and 4 single rooms for females who share lounge, bathroom, and kitchen. In partnership with North Belfast Housing, we also offer a further 11 self-contained furnished flats on the same site.
We provide 24-hour accommodation for families and single women who find themselves in need of short-term accommodation. Support will be given to address individual needs, enabling clients to achieve positive life changes and ultimately empower them to lead a more sustainable lifestyle. As a Specialist Support Worker, you will be responsible for taking a lead role in delivering the centre's Harm Reduction and Psychosocial programmes. You will be responsible for developing and delivering a high-quality programme of support which promotes client choice and control, to address client support needs, enable them to achieve positive life changes, and ultimately empower them to lead more sustainable lifestyles. The successful applicant will function as part of our Support Team, which may also include being part of the management roster with on-call duties, as and when required.
The successful candidate will:
* Be sympathetic to the Christian values of The Salvation Army
* Function as part of the management/duty management rota as and when required
* Use their initiative in problem-solving for the benefit of clients and colleagues
* Deliver a client-focused programme using a psychologically informed approach
* Work in a busy environment, be solution-focused, and demonstrate the ability to prioritise and make decisions under pressure
* Exhibit excellent communication skills both written and verbal
* Have experience of building and maintaining strong and effective partnerships with stakeholders and other services
* Be an advocate for clients, including supporting clients to attend appointments
* Deliver the centre's Harm Reduction and Psychosocial programmes
* Support and develop Support Workers & Assistant Support Workers in their professional development and their work with clients, including training, mentoring, and monitoring of interventions with clients
