Our global heavy industry client is looking to recruit a Manufacturing Site Manager (Works Manager) to join their team in Corby where there is currently a 30m investment project to increase capacity and output. On offer is a good salary up to 100,000 + Bonus Scheme, Car Scheme, and 10% employer pension contribution.
You will need to have experience in Heavy Industry, have been responsible for a 100m+ site budget and been responsible for a large team (headcount on site is around 400). You will need to be able to demonstrate significant experience in delivering and managing change in a complex environment, as well as in-depth knowledge of lean manufacturing/CI tools and techniques. This is a unionised environment so having held a Senior Leadership role within a unionised business will be a massive benefit.
Some of the main duties of the role:
1. To develop and embed a Lean Manufacturing / continuous improvement environment, in a complex culture, dealing with objections and a large workforce.
2. To develop relationships with Unions to improve employee engagement, resolve challenging issues and effect positive cultural change.
3. Taking accountability for the setting, management and spend of all budgets within the works area.
4. Leading initiatives to maximise the financial performance and the value of all items of spend within the works area.
5. Holding accountability for QHSE strategy and ensuring all relevant and legislative standards are met by the operations.
6. Responsibility for all Health, Safety and Environmental matters including responsibility for the management of major accident hazards and major accident prevention within their works area.
About you:
1. Degree-level education in a relevant Engineering or Technical discipline (MBA an advantage).
2. Significant experience of successfully implementing and managing change in a complex environment.
3. Experience of working at Senior Leadership level within a Unionised environment.
4. Experience of holding full budgetary responsibility for a site with a turnover exceeding 100m.
5. In-depth knowledge of Lean manufacturing/continuous improvement tools & techniques and able to evidence the successful implementation of these.
6. Able to evidence the ability to deal with complex challenges with positive results.
7. Experience in Heavy Industry.
8. Strong Leadership & communication skills.
9. Courage in decision making and management, with the ability to influence at all levels.
10. NEBOSH or equivalent H&S qualification.
11. High levels of energy, drive and resilience.
