To deliver exceptional patient care for patients that require support from the IV Access/OPAT services.
You will provide support to other members of the IV Access Team by assisting with procedures and troubleshooting devices placed by members of the IV access team.
The post holder must also perform surveillance of all IV devices inserted by the IV access team and keep records up to date by using the databases available.
The role will also provide education Trust wide about appropriate ongoing care for all IV access devices
• Provide high quality basic nursing care as directed by care plans, registered nurse/nursing associates senior staff including :
• Assistance with personal hygiene
• Perform a range of clinical tasks or procedures which may include;
• Peripheral IV access
• Venepuncture
• Capillary blood glucose monitoring
• Wound care management of simple wounds/basic dressings
• Perform observations using an automated device
• Transfer patients to other areas as and when required
• Ensure all aspects of care provided are accurately documented
• Demonstrates own duties to new starters
• Participate and promote the audit process with the department
• Ensure all results relative to a patients attendance are identified and filed appropriately
• Work with senior colleagues to develop clinical expertise and research based practice
• Recognise the workload of colleagues and provide support as necessary
• Ensure compliance with departmental and procedures
• Actively reflect on practice and take the opportunity to improve own competence
• Demonstrate commitment to develop own critical analytical skills
• Contribute to the application and evaluation of current research and audit findings
• Has regard for the resource implications of decisions
• Liaise and communicate with members of the multi - disciplinary team
