Vacancy Details 1 : Location Vacancy Details 2: Department of Oncology, Old Road Campus Research Building, Headington, Oxford OX3 7DQ About the role We have an exciting opportunity for a number of exceptional researchers to establish their own group to undertake basic cancer research in the Department of Oncology, University of Oxford. Successful candidates will design and develop a programme of laboratory-based research with the potential to translate to the clinical setting as appropriate. These posts will suit scientists with a focus in a research area that aligns with and complements the aims of the Department of Oncology and other cancer research groups at the University of Oxford. Successful candidates will be expected to contribute to the Department’s taught post-graduate programmes, for up to 15% of their time. They will also be expected to host Masters and other post-graduate students within their group as part of their laboratory programmes. The posts are suitable for researchers at an early stage in their career and are designed with a view to post-holders gaining programmatic and/or fellowship funding as a next step in their development. A tailored career development programme will be created for each of the successful candidates. Suitable candidates may be eligible to hold joint appointments with the Centre for Immuno-Oncology or the Ludwig Institute for Cancer Research. The development of postholders’ programmes of research will be supported by the Department and collaboration will be encouraged across basic and translational groups in Oxford. In addition to suitable lab space being provided, The Department of Oncology will provide funding for the following to support the research programme: Salary of a Postdoctoral Researcher or Research Assistant Research consumables Expenses for conferences, training and meeting attendance About you The post holder will hold a relevant PhD/DPhil with post-qualification research experience and a track record in a relevant field of research. They will have a strong publication record and familiarity with the existing literature and research in the field and be on a trajectory to independence as well as having experience of managing research projects and staff. Experience of making grant applications would be advantageous. This is a full time three-year fixed term post in the first instance.
