Job Summary:
The Civil Engineering Site Manager is responsible for overseeing the construction site operations, ensuring that projects are completed on time, within budget, and in compliance with all health and safety regulations. This role involves managing the workforce, coordinating subcontractors, liaising with clients, and maintaining quality standards throughout the construction process. The Site Manager will also ensure that the technical aspects of the project are executed efficiently, and any issues are promptly addressed.
Key Responsibilities
Site Management:
* Oversee daily operations on the construction site.
* Ensure work is carried out in accordance with project plans, specifications, and safety standards.
* Monitor and report on the progress of construction activities.
Team Leadership and Coordination:
* Supervise and manage on-site personnel, including contractors, laborers, and subcontractors.
* Ensure effective communication and collaboration among all teams.
* Resolve conflicts and ensure smooth day-to-day operations.
Health and Safety:
* Maintain a strong focus on safety by enforcing strict adherence to health and safety regulations.
* Conduct regular safety inspections and risk assessments.
* Ensure all workers are trained in safety procedures and that safety gear is worn at all times.
Quality Control:
* Monitor the quality of work on-site to ensure it meets the required standards.
* Conduct inspections to identify any issues or areas for improvement.
* Maintain detailed records of inspections, tests, and quality control measures.
Budget and Schedule Management:
* Ensure the project is completed within the established budget and timeline.
* Track project costs, prepare reports, and identify cost-saving opportunities.
* Coordinate with suppliers and subcontractors to ensure timely delivery of materials and services.
Client and Stakeholder Liaison:
* Serve as the primary point of contact for clients, consultants, and other stakeholders.
* Address any concerns or issues raised by stakeholders in a timely manner.
* Provide regular progress reports to clients and management.
Problem Solving and Decision Making:
* Proactively identify and resolve any issues or delays that may arise on the construction site.
* Make decisions to keep the project on track and ensure work quality is maintained.
Documentation and Reporting:
* Maintain accurate records of work performed, including change orders, daily logs, and site reports.
* Prepare and submit detailed project reports, including progress updates, schedules, and material usage.
Skills and Qualifications:
* Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering or related field (required).
* Proven experience as a Site Manager or similar role in civil engineering projects.
* Strong knowledge of construction processes, techniques, and materials.
* Ability to read and interpret blueprints, schematics, and technical drawings.
* Excellent leadership and team management skills.
* Good communication and interpersonal skills.
* Strong problem-solving abilities and attention to detail.
* Familiarity with construction management software and tools.
* In-depth understanding of health and safety regulations.
* Ability to work under pressure and meet deadlines.
Preferred Qualifications:
* Professional engineering certification (e.g., PE, CEng) is a plus.
* Experience with large-scale construction projects (e.g., highways, bridges, buildings).
* Proficient in project management software (e.g., MS Project, Procore).
Working Conditions:
* This position may require working outdoors in various weather conditions.
* Occasional extended hours and weekends may be necessary to meet project deadlines.
