The role Accounting & Payroll Management: Oversee daily accounting, payroll, and pensions operations to ensure compliance with legal requirements, best practices, and timely processing. Compliance & Financial Control: Ensure adherence to HMRC and Charities Commission standards, managing public funds efficiently and monitoring financial outcomes. Audit & Reporting: Assist in internal and external audits, manage audit fieldwork, and oversee the preparation of annual financial reports and accounts. Policy & Strategy Development: Support policy and strategy formulation and provide governance guidance, conducting regular governance meetings with senior management. Communication & Relationship Building: Foster teamwork, maintain strong interdepartmental communication, and build productive relationships with external stakeholders, including government departments. Leadership & Staff Development: Mentor and manage staff, promote performance targets, and uphold the organisation's vision and values through effective leadership. Continuous Improvement: Encourage a culture of improvement, recognize strong performance, and share best practices within the organization. The Person As the successful candidate you will have the following background and experience: Essential: Successfully completed the professional examinations and be a full, current member of one of the professional accountancy bodies. Possess two years' post qualification experience in: Preparation or audit of financial statements according to GAAP and/or IFRS. Preparation or audit of end of year accounts. Management accounting and costing systems, and financial performance reporting systems. Preparing, managing and monitoring budgets. Strategic Planning and Decision Support. Production of management reports. Have a minimum of three years' experience of leading, managing and motivating staff to achieve individual and team objectives. Be able to demonstrate experience of delivering in a business partnering role, supporting a range of internal and external stakeholders, providing support around a range of finance services.
