An opportunity has arisen for the position of Clinical Sister in Ward 1 at Chester le Street Community Hospital. We are a busy 23-bedded rehabilitation unit which is nurse and therapy led, ensuring an integrated approach for the benefit of our patients.

Main Duties of the Job
Ward 1 is a 23-bedded elderly rehabilitation ward. We accept patients from the acute wards, direct from accident and emergency, and from other organisations.
1. To supervise, support, and educate junior members of the team, acting as a role model.
2. Support the ward/department manager to ensure organisational goals/objectives are met within the ward/department and policies are adhered to.
3. When taking charge of the ward/department or in the absence of the ward/department manager, be directly responsible for ensuring that clinical, professional, and cleanliness standards are maintained in the entire ward/department.
4. To ensure effective communication internally and externally regarding patient care and resources.
5. Responsible for your team's appraisals.
6. Participate in ward audits.

We provide hospital services from two acute sites - Darlington Memorial Hospital and University Hospital of North Durham. We have a centre for planned care in Bishop Auckland and provide care from community hospitals in Chester-le-Street, Shotley Bridge, Barnard Castle, Sedgefield, and Weardale, as well as over 80 other community-based settings and providing care in patients' homes.

Person Specification
Experience
* Experience at band 5 level, people management, clinical skills, and experience in older persons management.
* Clinical skills.
Statutory Registration
Qualifications
* RGN with current NMC level 1 registration, teaching and assessing qualification or equivalent.
* Degree or equivalent experience.
Special Skills & Knowledge
* Positive and motivated.
* Able to prioritise and work to deadlines.
* Keen to develop within the role.
* Aware of current drivers within the NHS.
* Venepuncture, cannulation, wound care experience, and experience of report writing.
