The successful candidate will work closely within the TAVI and the wider interventional team to support the growing TAVI service at the Freeman Hospital. They should have extensive experience in interventional cardiology and be independent or have received high training volume for percutaneous coronary intervention. The successful candidate will be responsible for all aspects of TAVI care and will be supported in gaining experience in the technical steps of the TAVI procedure, aiming to achieve an independent level operator by the end of their fellowship. As part of the TAVI team, the successful candidate should be able to demonstrate effective team working, leadership, and communication skills. They are expected to support research studies relating to TAVI, co-ordinate with research nurses, and obtain data.

Main duties of the job
This post is an opportunity to gain experience in TAVI in a high-volume UK centre, aiming to achieve independence by the end of the fellowship. This post would be suitable for a candidate who has high-level interventional training and possesses the required interpersonal skills to support the TAVI service at the Freeman Hospital.
Job responsibilities
Clinical:
The successful candidate will work as part of the TAVI team. They will be responsible for patients undergoing TAVI, including procedural preparation and CT analysis, MDT work up, and post TAVI care. They will support one dedicated TAVI clinic per week and are expected to liaise with the TAVI specialist nurse to support the service for elective and urgent inter-hospital transfer.
Administrative:
Recording data following TAVI procedures in local databases, writing discharge summaries, communicating with General Practitioners, and liaising with the TAVI specialist nurse about the TAVI service.
Research and Teaching:
There will be opportunities to conduct research studies related to TAVI and other structural heart interventions. The successful candidate is expected to support ongoing research activities within and outside the catheterisation laboratory. They are also expected to contribute to the weekly Journal Club and interesting interventional cases.
Flexibility:
In line with the Trust's core value of placing patients at the heart of everything we do, we are developing our service provision to be responsive to the needs of our patients. To meet those needs, some staff groups will be increasingly asked to work a more flexible work pattern so that they can offer services in the evening or weekend. As a result, any offer of employment to a consultant post will be subject to you agreeing to work a new more flexible pattern or working in the future if required, including evening and weekend work.

Education and Qualifications
Essential
* Primary Medical Qualification.
* Full GMC Registration with a licence to practise.
Desirable
* Higher research degree (MSc or PhD).
Clinical Skills and Knowledge
Essential
* Experience of PCI procedures, including complex PCI.
* Proactive care of pre- and post-procedural patients.
* Insight into abilities and knowledge, and the ability to ask for help when required.
Desirable
* High volume PCI experience (> 600 cases).
* Previous experience in assisting TAVI procedures.
Management and Administration Experience

* Ability to run a service and participate in management processes.
