They are looking for a mid-senior level Scala Developer to join a rapidly growly team, building cutting-edge digital solutions within UK GovSec.
We have a budget of £55-75k + £5k bonus + 10% pension + fully remote working (with some ad hoc travel to the Newcastle office).
Key Responsibilities:
* Design, develop, and implement backend services using Scala.
* Develop RESTful APIs and web services using Play Framework.
* Utilise functional programming libraries, including Cats, to ensure high-quality and maintainable code.
* Implement and manage distributed, concurrent applications with Akka.
* Collaborate with cross-functional teams to define, design, and ship new features.
* Write clean, efficient, and well-documented code.
* Conduct code reviews and ensure best practices are followed across the development lifecycle.
* Troubleshoot, debug, and optimize system performance.
* Participate in agile ceremonies and contribute to sprint planning and retrospectives.
Key Skills and Experience:
* Must be eligible for SC Clearance
* Strong commercial experience in Scala development.
* Proven track record of working with Play Framework to build web applications and services.
* Proficiency in functional programming and experience with Cats or similar libraries.
* Experience with Akka for building distributed and resilient applications.
* Solid understanding of microservices architecture and RESTful APIs.
* Familiarity with Docker, Kubernetes, and cloud platforms (AWS, GCP, or Azure).
* Experience with version control (Git) and CI/CD pipelines.
* Consultancy & UK Government experience is required
