Multiprofessional Rehabilitation Assistant in Stroke

We are looking to appoint motivated and enthusiastic individuals to support stroke patients in our inpatient and community rehabilitation teams. The Multiprofessional Rehabilitation Assistant (MPRA) role will support the practice of the multidisciplinary teams (including Dietetics, Nursing, Occupational Therapy, Physiotherapy, Speech and Language Therapy and Clinical Psychology) to deliver the therapeutic goals of people undertaking rehabilitation after stroke at Cardiff and Vale University Health Board.
The post holders will work as part of the multidisciplinary teams for the 38-bedded inpatient Stroke Rehabilitation Centre (SRC) and Early Supported Discharge (ESD) community stroke team to deliver specialist patient-centred and goal-oriented rehabilitation to support stroke patients. They will be responsible for delivering person-centred meaningful activities working closely with patients, their relatives and carers, volunteers and multidisciplinary professionals across the service.
A key aim of the role is to deliver rehabilitation across 7 days to improve flow and enhance the patient experience. Therefore, rotas will include weekends and bank holidays as well as weekday shifts.
The post will involve rotating between the SRC and ESD teams and therefore the ability to drive with access to a car is desirable for this post. The ability to speak Welsh is desirable for this post; English and/or Welsh speakers are equally welcome to apply.
Main duties of the job
The successful candidate will need to:
* Contribute to the day-to-day delivery of a high-quality service to patients recovering and rehabilitating after stroke.
* Work well within a multidisciplinary team, under the guidance of registered health professionals.
* Advocate and support patients' rights by promoting shared decision making, respecting individual choice and beliefs, ensuring privacy and dignity at all times.

Person Specification
Qualifications
* Numerate and literate to GCSE level or equivalent.
* Recognised qualification NVQ level 4, Agored Cymru or equivalent. Or NVQ level 3 Plus additional training to diploma level or equivalent.
* Health and Social care related qualification evidenced through accredited courses.
Experience
* Health and Social care experience.
* Dealing with people individually or in groups.
* Working with people with Stroke or similar rehabilitation needs.
* Experience working as Therapy support worker.
* Experience working in the fitness industry.
Skills
* Ability to communicate with a wide range of people.
* Ability to motivate people.
* Ability to work as a member of the team.
* Basic IT skills.
* Ability to use digital technology.
* Teaching skills.
Specialist Knowledge
* A proven knowledge base in rehabilitation and role of Therapies.
* Knowledge of the presentations associated with physical and cognitive difficulties.
* Knowledge of the range of rehabilitation interventions appropriate for people with physical and cognitive difficulties.
* Knowledge of factors pertaining to community working (lone working, home visiting, risk assessment).
* Knowledge of the roles and responsibilities of the other professions in the multidisciplinary team.
* Knowledge of disability issues.
* Understanding the impact of Stroke on the individual and their family.
* Aware of the principles of client-centred goal setting.
PERSONAL QUALITIES

£26,928 to £29,551 a year per annum pro rata.
