Position: Electrical & ICA Discipline Lead/Manager
Location: Preston
Salary Guide: £80,000 - £90,000 Plus Bonus, Car/Allowance and Excellent Package
Our client is a Tier 1 D&B Contractor operating predominately in the water industry, delivering a number of water and wastewater non-infrastructure projects for United Utilities.
They are recruiting for a Discipline Lead for their Electrical and ICA team to be based at their office in Preston with Hybrid working available. You will ensure that the technical discipline is the right size and shape, has the correct competencies and capacity, and that standard design practices are applied in the region, contributing to the development of the discipline. You will also provide all regional discipline members with the opportunity to develop and progress.
Key Responsibilities:
1. People Management:
1. Duty of care in discipline in region.
2. Training & Development Planning in discipline in region.
3. Staffing levels and personnel management in discipline in region.
4. Long term staffing/succession plans in discipline in region.
5. Staff performance reviews/PDRs in discipline.
2. Engineering Discipline Management:
1. Application of strategic design philosophy in discipline in region.
2. Competency management in discipline in region.
3. Technical quality in discipline in region.
4. Task time requirements (estimates) in discipline in region.
5. Application of task delivery methods and toolsets in discipline.
6. Allocation of best-fit, competent staff to projects in region.
7. The use of common, secure, information management systems in discipline in region.
3. Operational Management:
1. Contributing to definition and implementing technical strategy in discipline.
2. Contributing to discipline productivity.
3. Tactical technical risk in discipline in region.
4. Client relationships and service management in discipline in region.
Skills, Experience and Qualifications:
1. Deep understanding of technical discipline design.
2. Technically focused.
3. Technical design management.
4. BIM and digital delivery astute.
5. Experience of technical design in a design-build environment.
6. Experience in the water treatment industry.
7. Experience in leading and managing discipline design teams.
8. Degree in a discipline-related subject, or substantial experience.
9. Must be quality-driven with the ability to set targets, manage and motivate multi-disciplinary teams to deliver to time, cost, and quality objectives.
Technical and Design Skills:
1. Able to identify and manage project technical risk. (Desirable)
2. Experience of leading remote/geographically-dispersed teams.
3. Chartered Engineer.
