About you:
The preferred candidate will have strong skills in working with the Adobe Creative Suite and who is keen to work in a busy design and production environment, with an emphasis on excellence and the highest quality.
You might have strong experience in design either in publishing, or in another agency environment, as well as the ability to support more junior members of staff. This is an agency that strives for excellence in everything they do, this would suit someone who is eager to keep learning and has the mindset to continue to improve technically and creatively.
You will need to be highly adaptable, able to shift priorities based on client needs and be able to deliver complex design projects to a high level of quality, within deadline.
The Role:
The Middleweight Designer will primarily be responsible for using your design-based skills across the Adobe Creative Suite to design and produce publishing content across print and digital. You will be working across anything from cover design to marketing material, to app design through to whole multi-level series. You will also be responsible for text formatting, page layout and making proof corrections in the production of books and other materials under the supervision of a Design Manager. As this role develops and moves towards Senior Designer level, there will be additional responsibilities around making improvements in creativity in original design, combined with exceptional production skills and project management of multiple titles.
This is an extremely varied role and whilst technical design skills are essential, so is the ability to be creative, and to showcase new ideas - whilst maintaining quality and the high standards this organisation is known for.
Our client is really open to experience and background - at Middleweight level we are looking for strong design experience already, though this doesn't necessarily need to be within the publishing industry. You might be working in house in a publisher, or working for another agency but you're excited about using technical and creative design skills in a new, ambitious environment. The culture is highly supportive and they are very happy to provide training as long as the individual comes with a desire to learn, a focus on excellence, a can-do attitude and a drive to work hard and learn their craft.
