About Us
Telethon Speech & Hearing (TSH) is a Western Australian not-for-profit organisation, registered charity, independent school, and NDIS provider that has helped children with speech, language, and hearing difficulties lead fulfilling lives since 1966. We provide integrated services for children with hearing loss and/or speech and language difficulties from newborns to 18-year-olds.
About the Role
We are currently seeking a nurturing and inclusive Teacher with a strong interest in early literacy and language support to work in our Talkabout 4/5 year old program. This is a unique teaching role working with classes of no more than 10 students, supported by a multi-disciplinary team of professionals including psychologists, speech pathologists, audiologists, occupational therapists, and education assistants.
This permanent part-time role (0.5 FTE) will require working on Thursdays and Fridays, with allocated prep on Wednesday mornings. Additional hours on a relief basis may also be available.
About You
The successful candidate will be an experienced and/or qualified Early Childhood Teacher with highly developed literacy and language skills. Extensive knowledge of childhood social and emotional development is required, along with the ability to create an inclusive and nurturing environment that recognizes every person’s unique talent and fosters positive outcomes.
Additionally, the candidate should have a history of building strong relationships with families, practice positive behaviour support principles, and be comfortable collaboratively leading a classroom of allied health and education professionals.
TSH is committed to providing a child-safe environment and promoting practices that ensure the safety, wellbeing, and welfare of our children, clients, and families. Therefore, short-listed applicants will also be assessed against their ability to support and maintain a child-safe environment.
Benefits
At TSH, you will find an environment that is welcoming, inclusive, supportive, and fun, where our employees take pride in the work they undertake, the relationships they build, and the difference they make in the lives of the children and families we support. We offer a competitive remuneration package, including access to salary packaging, free onsite parking, flexible work arrangements, and an employee assistance program.
