PURPOSE Fintechs play an increasingly important and innovative role in creating new payment value, channels, volumes, customer segments and enabling market ecosystems. As a result, new digital / transaction growth and market development opportunities can best be delivered, co-created and scaled via such partnerships. The key focus of this role would be to identify, develop and co-create with, and manage such strategic fintech partnerships and strategies for growth of the SA payments ecosystem and BankservAfrica customer and industry value. You would be required to expand the total market for BankservAfrica offerings, thereby increasing the potential for business, payments value, volume and resultant revenues, inform and motivate for new solutions and product growth in line with the overall BankservAfrica Growth plan, through the following Strategic Contribution Elements: - Extend current offerings within existing markets by converting non – users into users - Identify and develop new market segments for current offerings - Identify and qualify opportunities for new offerings within existing markets - Identify and enter new communities and develop them into new target markets - Identify and develop new market payment ecosystems - Identify and conclude strategic fintech partnerships to deliver on objectives - Identify new solutions and create awareness within the business team of these and potential benefits to BankservAfrica and or its shareholders and customers You will engage with the following stakeholders: • Fintechs / Payment Service Providers • Banks • Non-bank Financial Service Providers • Retailers • Regulators - SARB Fintech Department, Pasa Your key responsibilities include: • Develop & Implement Business Strategy for Fintechs (includes PSPs, payments technology enablers, payments value and solutions providers). Identify and qualify market opportunities, trends, research and forces for growth to grow existing BSA solutions (e.g. Rapid Payments Program) and co-creation of new solutions, channels, VAS and volumes. Expand the market through fintechs for BankservAfrica; develop market opportunity matrix; respond to appropriate tenders and lead RFP/RFI proposals. Lead and deliver on the fintech strategy plan, business agreements, outcomes and objectives. • Financial. Develop and motivate commercial business cases; motivate for appropriate resourcing and requirements for delivery; contribute to budget setting and own set volume and revenue targets. • Leadership and New Business Pipeline. Manage, take ownership of and report on sales and opportunity pipeline with internal stakeholders; champion, lead and build the fintech sales narrative internally. • Innovation and Processes. Demonstrate innovative thinking in area of expertise and translate this into business process/ solutions/ working practice improvements; collaborate with fintechs and internal cross-functional teams to co-create market opportunities/projects deliver client or company specific projects in line with company standards and in agreement with line manager; contribute to the achievement of the organisational objectives (such as payments modernization) through structured and quality delivery of Work Assignments and Work Deliverables. • Stakeholders. Identify, engage and build relationships with key external stakeholders; deliver on appropriate SLAs and business agreements; support customer relationship teams where synergies to deliver joint objectives; attend related conferences as attendee and speaker where appropriate. • People. Mentor team members to ensure skills transfer and contribute to a positive team culture; ensure self and team stay abreast of industry developments. • Compliance and Risk. Identify, mitigate, and escalate risks appropriately; provide input into relevant policies and procedures; comply with relevant policies & procedures, regulation and legislation. QUALIFICATIONS / KNOWLEDGE • Appropriate tertiary/business related qualification preferred - Degree in commerce/marketing/management • Banking and payment industry knowledge • Required computer literacy levels • MS Office (Word/PowerPoint/Excel) EXPERIENCE • Experience in Business Development • Experience in Fintech/Payments/Banking/Financial Services industry • Minimum 5 years’ relevant experience in related field with demonstrable success/projects • Operational and Market knowledge of financial services and Payment Fintech industry
