An exciting opportunity has arisen in our Totnes Hospital to work on our Dart Ward.
You will be responsible for the provision of care as part of a team on a 16-bedded unit for people from 18 years upwards. Working as part of a multidisciplinary team, you will communicate with internal and external partners as required.
Working with your team, you will take charge of a cohort of patients and, as appropriate, act up to take charge of the unit in the absence of senior staff and be part of an internal rotation to support 24-hour care within the unit.
Main duties of the job
* To work as a registered nurse within a team responsible to the team leader/shift coordinator caring for patients and their carers.
* To fully utilise the learning opportunities available. You will gain an understanding of the physiological, psycho-social, spiritual, and cultural needs of the patients and their carers and develop a broad spectrum of clinical proficiency to deliver nursing care.
* To promote a safe clinical environment for all patients, their carers, visitors, and staff.
* To comply with the Trust's values and expected behaviours.
* To support in the assessment, implementation, and review of holistic patient requirements, being able to delegate where appropriate to colleagues to support in the provision of safe care for patients.
* To administer medication safely and with due diligence and monitor effectiveness or manage any adverse reaction within own abilities.
* To have a high level of communication skill that can be adapted to meet the needs of the situation and person.
* To maintain written records that are legible.

Qualification and Experience
* Current/awaiting registration with NMC.
* Experience of working in a ward environment.
* Knowledge of wound care and dressings.
* Understanding of clinical governance.
