We are looking for an enthusiastic pharmacist to support the implementation and maintenance of the EPMA systems used across the trust. They will require: a genuine interest in IT systems; proven experience using electronic prescribing systems on ward level, a strong clinical background and experience of delivering training to individuals and groups;
You will contribute to all aspects of clinical governance, including clinical risk and audit. As a teaching hospital, education and training is an integral component of all roles encompassing practice supervision of undergraduates, pre-registration pharmacists and the line management and educational supervision of pharmacists. We encourage inter-professional learning and have been recognised for educational initiatives such as joint teaching activities with Foundation Doctors.
This permanent role will work closely with a variety of healthcare professionals to ensure the digital prescribing of medicines is gold standard and in line with local and national guidelines.

Main duties of the job
We are seeking a motivated pharmacist who has a passion for digital transformation to support the implementation and maintenance of the trust electronic prescribing systems.
As part of this team the post holder work with a variety of key stakeholders ranging from clinical staff to members of the IT team to ensure maximise the effectiveness of the trust EPMA systems.
As a senior member of the pharmacy department, the post holder will work with clinical leads to utilise digital systems and improve the provision of clinical pharmacy services across the trust.

Detailed job description and main responsibilities
1. To be one of the Senior Pharmacists in the implementation and maintenance of the Electronic Prescribing and Medicines Administration (EPMA) systems.
2. To use clinical pharmacy experience and knowledge to encourage adoption of new ways of working with electronic systems and processes to ensure maximum levels of safety and quality.
3. To review the clinical appropriateness of new drug/protocol requests on to the trust EPMA systems, ensuring compliance with local/national guidance.
4. To support the resolution of medication-related risks and issues that could be generated by the transition from current to the future state; working closely with the digital medicines teams.
5. To support the development of policies and procedures to ensure safe medication practice with EPMA.
6. To support the digital medicines teams during the implementation, on-going management and optimisation of the EPMA system to ensure delivery of a high level of patient safety and quality of care.
7. To support the Trust in developing EPMA as a vehicle to effectively capture and communicate prescribing information to patients and healthcare professionals across all sectors.
8. To liaise with relevant clinical staff to identify how best EPMA services can be utilised to meet patient needs and manage risk.
9. To support Trust and local initiatives to reduce EPMA risks related to medicines use and optimisation.
10. To support the Lead EPMA Pharmacist in implementing contingency plans to ensure patient safety and service delivery are maintained during system downtime, or in the event of system failure, and that timely system recovery is facilitated.
11. Support team members to deliver on their functionally relevant objectives through offering advice, guidance and support as appropriate.
12. Build and sustain effective communications with other roles involved in the shared services as required
13. Increase the level of knowledge & skills within the Trust through documenting key learning and supporting others to develop their professional abilities.

Qualifications
Essential criteria
14. Mpharm Degree
15. Registered as a pharmacist with the GPhC
16. Post-graduate diploma (or equivalent)
17. Demonstrable post-registration experience in hospital pharmacy
