Job Description for Warehouse Manager
Company Overview
We are most famous for our award-winning event, buried deep in the Crown Estate near Ascot. 17 years ago, Mike & Alison Battle created the event out of their own desire to take their children somewhere that would celebrate the pure, commercially unsullied, magic of Christmas. Now, with the help of Hollywood set-designers, West-End actors and more than a sprinkling of magic, the event is keeping the magic of Christmas alive for thousands of children every year.
LaplandUK celebrates and honours the values, imagination and wonderment of childhood through our magical world, rich storytelling and immersive memory making experiences.
This is an exciting period of growth for us, as we look for new ways to bring the Lapland experience to a global audience through media, publishing, live shows and eCommerce channels.

Reporting directly to the Logistics Manager, the Warehouse Manager plays a critical role in ensuring all items are prepared, delivered, and returned efficiently. This is a hands-on role that will require actively participating in day-to-day warehouse operations while appointing and managing seasonal support staff during peak periods. The ideal candidate will have warehouse management experience, a proactive attitude, and the ability to handle the demands of a physically intensive role.
Key Responsibilities
* Inventory Management:
* Maintain an accurate inventory of all event equipment, materials, and consumables. Use inventory control procedures and IT systems introduced by the Logistics Manager to monitor and manage stock levels effectively.
* Logistics Coordination:
* Personally assist in the dispatch and return of equipment and materials to and from event sites, ensuring timelines set by the Logistics Manager are met. Collaborate closely with the events team to manage logistics and address any challenges.
* Warehouse Organisation:
* Take a hands-on role in organising and optimising the warehouse layout for efficient storage and access to equipment, prioritising safety, cleanliness, and workflow.
* Staff Supervision & Seasonal Recruitment:
* Appoint, train, and manage seasonal or temporary warehouse staff during peak periods. Actively lead by example, working alongside the team to ensure high productivity and operational standards.
* Quality Control:
* Personally inspect and maintain equipment and materials, identifying damages or required repairs, and ensuring items meet quality standards before dispatch.
* Health & Safety Compliance:
* Enforce health and safety protocols, including safe handling and storage of equipment. Conduct regular safety checks and ensure compliance with standards set by the Logistics Manager.
* Hands-On Operations:
* Take an active role in daily operations, including loading, unloading, and preparing equipment. Be prepared to handle the physically demanding aspects of the role.
* This role involves physical activity, including lifting, moving, and organising equipment. Applicants should be comfortable with the physical demands of the role, but we are committed to providing reasonable adjustments or accommodations to support individuals who may have specific needs.
* Process Improvement:
* Contribute to process enhancements in consultation with the Logistics Manager, identifying opportunities to improve efficiency, reduce waste, and streamline operations.
* Documentation & Reporting:
* Maintain accurate records of all inbound and outbound inventory, preparing regular reports for the Logistics Manager on stock levels, equipment usage, and discrepancies.
* Budgeting and Cost Control:
* Manage the warehouse’s operational budget within the framework provided by the Logistics Manager. Ensure seasonal staffing and resource allocation align with financial goals.
Qualifications and Skills
* Experience:
* Minimum of 3 years’ experience in warehouse management, preferably within the events, entertainment, or logistics industry.
* Skills:
* Strong organisational, time management, and problem-solving skills, with the ability to multitask and work efficiently under tight deadlines.
