About Croydon
It is an exciting time to join Croydon council and if you are interested in making a positive difference to our residents and our borough, then we look forward to receiving your application.
About the role
We are seeking to appoint an enthusiastic and motivated Senior Electoral Services Officer to join our small, busy Electoral Services team. We are a high profile and respected service responsible for delivering all statutory electoral processes including elections, electoral registration and the publication and distribution of the electoral register.
Croydon has the largest population of any London borough with an electorate of over 280,000. Currently, Croydon has 3 full parliamentary constituencies and shares one constituency with LB Lambeth. It consists of 28 wards, electing 70 councillors. Following a governance referendum in 2021, Croydon changed its governance model and elected its first directly elected Mayor in 2022.
The successful candidate will need to possess, be studying for, or be willing to study for the AEA Certificate in Electoral Administration.
Reporting to the Electoral Services Manager, the successful candidate will assist in managing and coordinating all electoral registration functions in the electoral services section including the annual canvass and any relevant initiatives. They will also have a central role in the planning and delivery of all elections that take place and will have specific responsibility as the lead on the recruitment of temporary election and canvass staff.
You must be flexible in your day-to-day working and be prepared to work extended hours, including weekends, bank holidays, and evenings when required, especially at the time of the annual canvass and in the period leading up to elections. Annual leave may be restricted during busy periods.
If you would like to discuss the role, please contact the Electoral Services Manager, Aneta Lacko-Burke at seth.alker@croydon.gov.uk.
