About The Role Senior Technician Electrical/Electronic Westhill, Aberdeen Permanent position About Us: James Fisher is a global engineering services company. The Defence Division provides underwater systems and life support capabilities, for the defence and commercial diving markets. About The Role: As a senior member of the production workshop team, the Senior Technician is capable of responding to the assembly, manufacturing and service of the company’s products as directed by the Team Leader, Workshop Manager or Production Manager. Directing and instructing to ensure that products conform, QA processes and safety are adhered too, and individuals are trained on the appropriate product in order to deliver our products on time and in full. Key Duties & Responsibilities: Supervision and training of Technicians and Trainee Technicians. Communicating goals and deadlines to team members. Planning workloads and delegating tasks. Supervise a team during all operational activities in a safe and reliable manner. Effectively manage the movement of materials through workshop from start to completion. Development of electronics team’s skills and competencies. Communication: effectively communicating with others, seeking clarification, and responding to feedback. You will also be required to perform customer service functions, including interacting with customers and answering questions as they arise. Working away from base when required and also working with engineers to keep products up to date and helping future proofing of products. Skills & Experience: Completed a recognised apprenticeship or training program in a technical discipline to a minimum of a SVQ qualification (or equivalent nationally recognised qualification) or has equivalent industry experience in a similar role. Knowledge of diving communication systems, diver monitoring and integrated diving control systems would be a distinct advantage. Previous supervisory skills would be ideal. Recognised proven skills in an electronic /electrical discipline. Knowledge of QA and health and safety within the work environment. Proven track record of a designated discipline in a manufacturing/ service environment.
