You’ll be responsible for maintaining and repairing essential hospital systems, ensuring compliance, and providing expert technical support. Occasionally, you may also be required to assist at Burnley General Hospital. If you have experience in mechanical systems, thrive in a fast-paced environment, and want to make a real difference in healthcare facilities, we want to hear from you What You’ll Do Perform maintenance, repairs, and inspections on a range of mechanical and building systems. Work with equipment such as boilers, heating and hot water systems, ventilation (AHUs), medical gas, HVAC, laundry equipment, and more. Carry out statutory testing and compliance checks. Diagnose and troubleshoot mechanical and technical issues. Assist in the training and development of junior staff. Work safely in hazardous areas and confined spaces, following all health and safety regulations. Participate in an on-call rota to provide emergency support when needed. Maintain a professional and customer-focused approach at all times. What We’re Looking For Essential: ✅ Recognized apprenticeship in engineering (mechanical, plumbing, HVAC, or similar). ✅ ONC, City & Guilds, or equivalent in a relevant engineering discipline. ✅ 5 years' experience in building services maintenance (commercial/industrial). ✅ Expertise in at least two or more of the following: AHUs, ventilation, pumps, pipework, valves, LTHW, L8 compliance. ✅ Strong knowledge of health & safety regulations and risk assessments. ✅ Ability to read technical drawings and work from plans. ✅ Full UK driving license. Desirable: Experience with Building Management Systems (BMS). Knowledge of pressure systems, steam boilers, or HVAC. Previous experience in a hospital or healthcare environment (training provided for the right candidate). Competent Person/Authorised Person certification.
