Job Description
Carrington West are assisting their local authority client based in London in their search for a Arboricultural Officer. This will be offered on an initial 3-month contract, then rolling. \n \nRole Purpose: \nTo provide professional arboriculture support and advice to the Directorate.
\nTo take the lead in the implementation of the Borough's Trees Strategy including tree condition \nstock registers as well as the assessment of conditions. \n \nMain Duties / Accountabilities \n1. Management of the Borough's tree stock.
This includes the appropriate stock-taking of \ntrees as well as the assessment of the tree condition to determine the work required \n2. Provide professional and expert arboricultural advice to ensure the effective delivery of \nthe tree service \n3. Manage the interface with the Policy team to ensure the practicability of the implementation plan underpinning the strategy.
This will also include professional technical contribution to \nthe development of policies and strategies. \n4. To organise regular tree surveys and update the arboriculture asset database with the \nresults of the surveys and use professional judgement to outline the likely actions that are \nneeded \n5.
To report to Council committees, as required, and attend local community groups and \nother meetings to advise on tree related matters, if requested \n6. To carry out Risk Assessments relating to tree work and inform contractor of areas of risk \nand make recommendations for actions to either mitigate or eliminate the risks. \n7.
To inspect and take action as appropriate to deal with dangerous trees in relation \n(Not an exhaustive list) \n \nAlthough not mandatory, it would be beneficial to hold a membership or have eligibility for membership to a recognised related professional body (e.g. Landscape Institute / Arboricultural Association); possess the following Arboricultural qualifications & experience: Arboriculture and Forestry Advanced Diploma Level 3 or equivalent Certificated Lantra Professional Tree Inspection; and Experience in Tree Risk Assessment using a recognised methodology such as QTRA (Quantified Tree Risk Assessment). Weekly presence on site is required.
