We are currently looking for a Laboratory Analyst to join the team.
What will you be doing?
1. Become a crucial member of the Anglian Water Family, working collaboratively in a time critical environment to produce high quality results, whilst delivering Anglian Waters goal in bringing environmental prosperity to the region.
2. Be involved in sampling field work across the whole Anglian Water region for invertebrates, macrophytes, and other specimens as required using recognised sampling techniques. Field work is physically demanding due to the requirement to transport equipment from the sampling van to the sampling point, this can be a considerable distance. Sampling then requires the safe entry to a water course so that kick samples and chemistry samples can be taken. As the sampling is seasonal, there will be more sampling events occurring in the Spring/Summer time, so there will be a requirement of flexibility at these times where working hours may total more than 7.4 hours in the day due to travel and sampling time, there will be quieter periods where hours can be balanced.
3. Use numerous resources to identify specimens to taxonomic rank according to requirements, prepare specimens for identification and preserve specimens for quality control.
4. Be involved in both testing and quality activities within the laboratory, your duties will include all aspects of analysis of water samples using a variety of recognised analytical techniques.
5. Produce accurate data to support colleagues complete vital roles throughout the entire business.
6. Input data of biological results into various biotic indexes based on requirement of workstream.
7. You’ll have the opportunity to contribute towards continuous improvement, take on a variety of scientific challenges and gain an exciting array of experience as you meet them.

What does it take to be a Laboratory Analyst?
1. Full UK Manual Driving licence due to an element of the role involving driving across the region taking samples out in the field.
2. You’ll have a passion for science with either relevant A-Levels or equivalent qualification/experience.
3. You should be able to follow instructions meticulously to provide a consistent high standard of work.
4. You should be adaptable and be able to prioritise.
5. You should be able to work effectively as part of a team but also able to undertake independent working when required.
