Leicester is covered by a wealth of soft and hard open spaces that includes a range of parks, gardens and nature areas. We have over 150,000 individual trees and 107 hectares of woodlands, canals, and riversides. In addition, we also have 150 play and outdoor gym facilities, sports facilities, highways, and housing green spaces totalling 1,250 hectares.
It is widely recognised that quality open spaces contribute to residents’ quality of life and improve physical and mental health wellbeing, with parks in Leicester attracting around 9m visitors per annum.
This is a fantastic opportunity for a Cleaner to join our team. Reporting to the Sport on Facility Officer, you will be part of a team to maintain high standards of cleanliness within parks pavilions, education pavilions and other buildings.
This is a part time, permanent position working 14.5 hours per week. Hours of work are 8.00am - 4.00pm Thursday and 8.00am - 3.30pm Friday. You’ll be based at Park House; Abbey Park offices and you’ll be required to work across a range of sites within Leicester’s Parks and open spaces.
What you’ll be doing
1. Maintain cleanliness of common areas.
2. Remove and clean up any unpleasant substances.
3. Ensure cleaning equipment is in good working order.
4. Basic security of the building and report any faults.
5. Complete work in line with legal requirements including COSHH regulations and health and safety.
6. Conduct basic security checks such as locking and unlocking areas.
7. Carry out manual handling of cleaning equipment.
8. Provide friendly, high-quality customer service.
What you’ll need
1. Experience in general cleaning duties or ability to undertake relevant cleaning tasks.
2. Basic literacy and numeracy skills for compliance with COSHH and maintaining cleaning records.
3. Awareness of health and safety responsibilities.
4. Ability to use cleaning equipment and chemicals safely.
5. Willingness to work in unpleasant environments.
6. Comfortable working around the public.
7. Ability to work independently with minimal supervision.
You will need a full UK driving license; an LCC vehicle will be provided for use during the working day.
