Learning Support Assistant (1:1 Support for Behavioural Needs)

Teaching Personnel are seeking a dedicated and compassionate Learning Support Assistant to work 1:1 with a pupil displaying challenging behavioural needs at a secondary school in Maesteg. Working with pupils with behavioural, emotional and social difficulties (BESD) is a challenging yet incredibly rewarding opportunity to make a real difference in the life of a young person from a difficult background.
A fully enhanced DBS, registered on the update service is mandatory for working in schools via Teaching Personnel. Support and guidance in applying for this can be provided. Registration with the Education Workforce Council (EWC) is also mandatory.
Key Responsibilities:
- Provide tailored 1:1 support to a pupil with challenging behaviours, helping them engage in learning and achieve their potential.
- Build a positive and trusting relationship with the pupil, fostering resilience and confidence.
- Manage resistance and challenging behaviour with patience and effective strategies.
- Collaborate with the ALNCo, teachers and other school staff to develop and implement strategies that support the pupil's development.
- Promote an inclusive and supportive learning environment.
