We’re looking for a friendly and compassionate Family Liaison Officer to join our team. This important role is all about helping children attend school happily and consistently, removing any obstacles that might stand in their way, and supporting families through challenges.
As part of our commitment to staff wellbeing, our Family Liaison Officer will help provide a supportive work environment, share wellbeing resources, and opportunities to help staff maintain a healthy work-life balance.
The Role
As a Family Liaison Officer, you will:
* Be a friendly and approachable point of contact between the school and families, building positive relationships.
* Work with families to help children enjoy and attend school regularly and enthusiastically.
* Provide practical support to families facing challenges that might affect their child’s attendance, learning, or well-being.
* Collaborate with school staff to identify children who may need extra encouragement or support.
* Develop activities and initiatives to engage families and strengthen their involvement in school life.
* Signpost families to helpful services and resources in the local community.
* Keep records of your work and share updates with the team when needed.
* Promote and safeguard the well-being of all children, following school policies.
About You
We’re looking for a kind and proactive individual who:
* Has experience working with children, families, or in a community-based role.
* Enjoys working with people, building trust, and creating supportive relationships.
* Understands safeguarding practices and is familiar with local support services.
* Is organised, self-motivated, and able to juggle different tasks.
* Can handle sensitive situations with empathy, confidentiality, and care.
* Holds relevant qualifications or has experience in social work, education, or community engagement.

Contract
Part-Time, Term Time Only
Working Hours: Monday, Wednesday, and Friday 8:30 AM – 3:30 PM; Tuesday 8:30 AM – 12:30 PM
Salary: Kent Range 4 or 5, depending on experience (£10,307.92 – £10,617.90 per annum)
Candidates will be judged on both their capability for the post and their suitability for working with children. Good English and Maths skills are essential and candidates must have GCSE maths and English at grade C or above.
