Cogent staffing is currently recruiting for a Junior Process Engineer for our well-established manufacturing client based in Halifax. The ideal candidate does not need specific experience, however, will need to have a keen interest in chemical engineering, currently studying a relevant degree OR be looking at studying a relevant degree in Chemistry. Reporting to the Technical Manager, the main purpose of the role will be to investigate, measure processes, help to develop productivity and process improvements within the business.
THE ROLE:
* Work with the team to establish Standard Operating Procedures (S.O.P.) and Standard Operating Controls (S.O.C) to provide long-term sustainable improvements in the quality of products and services.
* Testing and understanding the different process parameters.
* Perform safety observations and share findings with the leadership team.
* Support plant process improvement teams and manage assigned basic process improvement projects.
* Help to identify manufacturing best practices and good ideas to improve productivity.
* Ensuring quality standards are achieved and consistently maintained.
* Conduct plant assessments and margin improvement processes to identify improvement opportunities. Focus on machine stops and set-ups, conduct scrap studies, use S.M.E.D. system to improve productivity, cooperating within the team.
* Take part in the execution of Continuous Improvement Management methodologies.
* Work with Quality team to identify/qualify/implement Customer focused improvements.
* Productivity targets
* KPI’s including but not limited to Production volume, scrap, set-ups, and minor stops.
THE CANDIDATE:
* Excellent computer skills with experience in Excel, PowerPoint, and Word
* Minimum of 5 GCSE’s equivalents of A* - C
* High degree of initiative and enthusiasm.
* The successful candidate will be a forward thinker with and eagerness to learn and develop oneself, with the ability to identify opportunities and implement practical solutions.
* Curiosity and drive to improve.
* Ability to effectively communicate.
* Practical approach – ability to identify opportunities and implement practical solutions.
* Preferably some exposure to a Processing or Production Facility.
THE ROLE:
* Full time, temporary contract with a view to become permanent.
* Hours of work: 36 per week, Monday to Thursday 08:00 17:00 & Friday 08:00 - 13:30.
* Salary: £25,000 per annum.

* Holiday entitlement: 25 days + 8 statutory days (Bank holidays).
