JOB TITLE: HEAD OF TECHNOLOGY
REPORTS TO: MANAGING DIRECTOR
LOCATION: Hybrid, required to be in Great Yarmouth Head Office 1 day/week
HOURS: Full time – 40 hours per week
JOB PURPOSE:
Responsible for overseeing all aspects of the company's technology including development, infrastructure and strategy and delivering on the Microsoft Azure cloud adoption vision. This includes managing the development and implementation of new technologies, ensuring systems are robust, scalable and secure - aligning to technical best practise.
The role is expected to regularly deliver code changes/write code alongside management of the team - approx: 60:40 split.
Shaping the product roadmap to support business growth and leading a team of technology professionals including Developers and Test Engineers. Act as the subject matter expert for enquiries related to Tech. Able to respond to both technical and non-technical employees in a clear, appropriate way to either resolve the issue or agree on a course of action.
The Head of Tech is a member of the Leadership team, reporting directly to the MD, and collaborates closely with other department heads and external stakeholders to align technology initiatives with the company's overall goals and objectives.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES AND ACCOUNTABILITIES
1. Develop and implement (write code) changes to applications
2. Define and deliver the company's technology strategy and technical roadmap.
3. Deliver on the company’s vision of Azure cloud adoption (already in progress)
4. Oversee the design, development, and implementation of technology solutions.
5. Ensure the security and integrity of the company's technology infrastructure.
6. Establish and enforce technology policies and procedures to ensure compliance and data protection.
7. Evaluate and recommend new technologies and tools to enhance efficiency and productivity.
8. Promote cloud adoption and upskill the team.
9. Manage a team of technology professionals (Developers and Testers), providing guidance and support.
10. Organise, allocate and prioritise work to maximise resource utilisation and company strategy.
11. Collaborate with other departments to identify and address technology needs and opportunities.
12. Work with the MD to retain ISO27001 Certification, including a robust and tested BCP.
13. Assist in sales process/proposals when technical input is required
REQUIRED SKILLS
14. 10+ years’ experience in software development
15. 5+ years’ experience managing technology teams.
16. 10+ years’ experience in software development, including management of technology teams.
17. Expert in Microsoft skill set including C#, ASP.NET Web Forms, .NET Core, HTML & JavaScript.
18. Experience of delivering software solutions in a Microsoft Azure cloud environment.
19. Knowledge of infrastructure as code solutions like Terraform an advantage
20. Expert in C#, VB.NET, ASP.Net Web Forms, .NET Core, PHP, HTML/CSS/JavaScript/Jquery.
21. Have a broad understanding of infrastructure - including SQL Server databases and Windows operating systems.
22. Able to review and advise team members on the above technologies.
23. Proven ability to lead, motivate, and manage IT teams, using modern methodologies.
24. Proficient in setting up and managing servers, relational databases (MySQL), and operating systems.
25. Capacity to thrive in a fast-paced, ever-changing technology environment.
