About the role The Airport Fire Service (AFS) are expecting to have 2 Firefighter vacancies and potentiall y more over the next 12 month s; as a result we are creating a Talent Pool of suitable candidates to fill these roles. The primary objective of the AFS is to respond to diverse emergency calls while enhancing the safety of the airport community. This is achieved through the promotion of fire safety awareness and the provision of essential safety training courses for airport personnel and contractors. This involves many activities, including: Responding to and effecting rescue at incidents on and off the airfield including firefighting, medical emergencies, road traffic collisions and hazardous materials Ensuring effective constant wildlife management on the airfield Educating and working with the airport community to improve awareness of safety issues and regulations Contributing to planning with the various airfield departments and agencies Assessing safety risks associated with aviation and related hazards and developing plans to reduce risk Developing and testing emergency policies and plans Training other airfield users in a variety of disciplines If this sounds like the job for you, we d love to hear from you The Recruitment Process The selection process will take place on the dates shown below. Things to note A Developed Vetting and Counter Terrorism Check is required for this post, which the Isle of Man Government will cover the cost of for you. Due to restrictions on the requirement to be aged 21 or over to obtain an HGV licence, we can only accept applications from those aged 21 on or after 01/07/2025. A full, valid driving licence without the restriction of R plates is essential. In order to obtain an Airport Pass, all Airport Firefighters are subject to an enhanced police and counter terrorism check. There are criminal convictions that disqualify you from obtaining this pass. If you have any unspent convictions, we would encourage you to let us know as early on in the recruitment process as possible to allow us to advise you about whether this is a disqualifying conviction.
