Mechanical Design Engineer 38.13 per hour Umbrella (Inside IR35) – 12 months Role Description • To provide support to the design and analysis teams of the mechanical engineering department, to aid in the development of new products and to support efforts that ensure the readiness and sustainment of our existing products. • To produce with minimal support the documentation required to support the definition of new product, the manufacture and assembly of parts and assemblies and the change in definition of current product.
• To assist in the design of fixtures, tools and minor parts. • To assist in the build of prototypes, fixtures, tools and internal test equipment. • To assist in the management of the efforts of supporting mechanical technicians when required. • To support the leadership team in achieving against its duties and engagements. • To support fellow engineers by providing guidance and developmental support where able.
Essential
• Drafting of mechanical engineering drawings from 3D parametric CAD models. • The creation and modification of 3D parametric CAD models. • Working to standards e.g. drawing standards, preferably BS8888 and ASME Y14.100. • Change process control and documentation. • Part and feature dimensional tolerance control, preferably with GD T • Data base management (Working within a PDM system, preferably WindChill and Teamcenter) • The management and delivery of assigned work packages, with ownership and autonomy, to schedule and budget. • The identification and communication of risk and error when seen. • Working collaboratively with engineers across different disciplines. • Manage the efforts of supporting technicians, taking responsibility for their output, and where required, tracking the completion of their work against schedule and budget. • Peer review the work of other technicians. • Support fellow engineers, team leads, project leads and functional managers as required. • Competent in the use of CAD tools, specifically CREO • Good communicator, well organised and able to work within a multi-disciplined team. • Experienced in the communication of part and assembly detail through engineering drawing. Specifically to standard (preferably BS8888/ASME Y14.100) and with an understanding of dimensional tolerance control and GD T.
