Mechanical Engineer, you’ll support our business by taking responsibility for
managing Mechanical engineering and compliance activity across Hydro sites. You’ll
ensure this activity continues to meet or better legislative requirements in
terms of health, safety and environmental management. This role also provides authoritative
technical advice to our Production and Maintenance teams.You’ll identify
the Mechanical engineering aspects of the long-term plant investment plan for
the business and provide guidance in the development of specifications and
project technical support. Actively engage with our behavioural safety
programme, you’ll carry out safety tours with staff and contractors.This role
covers all plants within Hydro which includes 8 conventional hydro stations
(126MW) and a pumped storage station (420MW). The stations are located from
Tongland at the Solway Firth to Cruachan that is situated on the banks of Loch
Awe approximately 180 miles apart.On average you’ll
be expected to attend one of the sites per week with some office attendance at
the Glasgow office for team collaboration. This role also allows for some home
working. We don’t offer a car allowance, but mileage will be paid from your
home to the site location (excluding the Glasgow office). A valid UK driving
licence is essential for this role.About youTo be
successful in this role you’ll be degree level qualified in a relevant
engineering discipline and ideally be a chartered Engineer (or equivalent) of a
relevant institute i.e. IMechE or IET. You’ll have extensive relevant work
experience in the Mechanical Engineering industry.A NEBOSH or
IOSH certificate in Health & Safety or equivalent would also be beneficial.Rewards and
