Accommodation Support Worker
Please note, this will be shift work, likely to get a set amount of hours each week, we do have a casual shift on Friday evening the twilight shift.
PURPOSE AND OBJECTIVES OF THE JOB
1. To welcome people into Temporary accommodation and ensure they receive high levels of support and guidance to become tenancy ready and effectively manage their needs whilst in Temporary Accommodation.
2. Be responsible for the management of the temporary accommodation and ensuring re-let and turnaround time are met when empty.
3. To support with the delivery of a Temporary Accommodation Delivery, within Rochdale Borough Council and lead on the Safer Homes Scheme, which helps those experiencing domestic abuse to remain in their homes.
4. To contribute towards the reduction of temporary accommodation admissions by preventing homelessness.
5. To provide advice and support to assess the needs of all households including customers with complex needs (including alcohol and drug issues and mental health).
6. Develop a personal housing plan which will include advice on housing support, health services, employment information, and rehabilitation and addiction services and refer to services for floating support and supported accommodation as part of the development of a personal housing plan within desired timescales.
7. Will support other homelessness colleagues to deliver personal housing plans of those experiencing homelessness to ensure the most appropriate support is being offered.
8. Represent Strategic Housing at multi-agency meetings that discuss domestic abuse including safeguarding meetings (MARAC – Multi Agency Risk Assessment Conference, DRIVE, Daily-high risk DA) and multi-agency forums in order to work with partner agencies towards an outcome for people experiencing domestic abuse.
9. Will help provide specialist advice to colleagues within Strategic Housing and across the Council services in an effort to prevent homelessness of those experiencing or at risk of experiencing Domestic Abuse.
10. Represent and contribute to the Rochdale Safer Communities Partnership’s priorities, to domestic abuse policy development and implementation in line with legislation, government guidance.
