The Specialist Recovery Division
This role will focus on supporting our low secure service on Spencer House, which has 2 wards, each with 14 beds for males aged 18-65. Patients experience a range of mental health issues.
You will work across both wards with the current Occupational Therapy team, receiving direct support and mentorship from Specialist OTs. The Occupational Therapy team offers comprehensive treatment through meaningful occupation, aiming to equip patients with the life skills required to live a fulfilling life.
The Person and Role
As a registered Occupational Therapist, you will join a motivated and innovative OT team. You will have the opportunity to create new therapy ideas and gain experience as part of a multi-disciplinary team, managing a clinical caseload, and providing OT-specific assessment and treatment.
You should demonstrate a good understanding of OT within secure services, including risk assessment skills. Sharing your experience in applying the OT process should emphasize how you promote our profession.
Continued professional development is supported, with access to in-house CPD events and an expectation to be involved in the training of OT students. Opportunities for networking with colleagues of varying grades within the service and the Charity are also available.
You should have:
* Experience and knowledge of working within a secure setting.
* Knowledge and experience of working within mental health services.
* An understanding of various theoretical frameworks and approaches that guide practice and clinical reasoning.
* Experience in using occupational assessment tools for clinical reasoning, treatment planning, and evaluation of interventions.
* Strong communication skills, both written and verbal, with the ability to develop professional relationships with the MDT and patients.
