St Stephen's Redditch
Redditch, England, United Kingdom
£32,000
Context & Vision
St Stephen’s Redditch is a historic town centre church currently undergoing a season of renewal. In 2024 the church will be injected with new vision, strategy, and resources so that it can proclaim the good news of Christ to Redditch with renewed vibrancy. St Stephen’s is a part of the New Wine network and stands firmly within the Charismatic evangelical tradition of the Church of England as part of the Diocese of Worcester.
St Stephen’s renewed vision is shaped by four key emphases: worship, faith, community, and witness, through which it is hoped that the whole church will be deeply nurtured in their Christian discipleship, equipped, and released to go and make disciples in their local contexts. Coinciding with this is funding from the Church Commissioners for building redevelopment works and salaried staff roles, which will serve the vision and seek to bring it to life. Alongside the clergy, church council, and wardens, the ministry leadership team will exist to serve the church, model faithful discipleship, cast vision, build teams, raise leaders, and equip the church through gifts of prophecy, evangelism, teaching, pastoral care, and apostolic witness. St Stephen’s has a wider remit of partnership and resourcing of the Redditch Mission Area and will seek out opportunities to work in gospel partnership with other local churches.
The Role
The role will be key in achieving the ambition of growing a church of passionate, creative, and faithful Christian worship. The role will take ownership of the church’s worship and prayer culture, helping foster a rhythm of prayer, devotion, intercession, praise, and prophecy. The Worship Director will build and invest in teams of worship leaders, musicians, creatives, technicians, intercessors, and prophets who can encourage and provoke the church community to be all God desires it to be. Their ministry will be to continually remind the church of the transcendency and power of God which lie at the heart of all we seek to do. The person will be a part of a core ministry team made up of staff members and other key leaders.
At this stage, there are no fixed expectations about the role so that the role might emerge organically as the St Stephen’s renewal project begins. The role description will be outlined and agreed to collaboratively after 6 months of employment. Tasks will likely involve organizing and leading sung worship for Sunday worship gatherings; building, nurturing, and overseeing a worship team, AV team, and other volunteers; assisting with occasional offices; leading midweek prayer and worship gatherings; formulating a vision and strategy for worship, prayer, and prophecy for the whole church community; administration and rota planning; assisting with creative media and communications; and helping champion St Stephen’s role within the Redditch Mission Area.

We are the church in the centre of Redditch and currently stepping into a season of renewal and praying for revival in our day.
St Stephen's has been commissioned as a 'renewal church' within the Diocese of Worcester. We have received finances from the Church Commissioners of the Church of England to enable the vision to become a reality. We are about to undertake a significant building reordering project, employ a team of key ministry leaders, and a new pioneer minister started in role during the autumn of 2024.
Our vision:
We seek to be a thriving community of missionary disciples, empowered by the Holy Spirit to worship God passionately, follow Jesus faithfully, love one another radically, and share hope courageously, in Redditch and to the ends of the earth.
Our values:
* We are ANGLICAN and we are committed to the historic, apostolic faith we have inherited as part of the Diocese of Worcester and the global Anglican communion.
* We are CHARISMATIC meaning we believe the work and gifts of the Holy Spirit are at the forefront of the church’s life and mission in every season.
* We are EVANGELICAL meaning we place particular emphasis upon the authority of the bible, the saving work of Jesus’ crucifixion and resurrection, personal conversion and lifelong sanctification, and the active momentum of the gospel beyond the church community.
