The Role
An oversubscribed school within Preston is currently looking to appoint a 1:1 Teaching Assistant for a pupil with an EHCP. The pupil has significant SEND requirements, including the need for SEMH support. As a 1:1 Teaching Assistant you will be responsible for working under the instruction and guidance of teaching and senior staff to undertake support programmes for the pupil. This will include carrying out work within the classroom or outside the main teaching area, which at times may also involve assisting other children. Furthermore, the role will involve working closely with the teacher/SENCo to identify the pupils’ specific needs, barriers to learning and current attainment and progress. Previous experience working on a 1:1 basis with a child with an EHCP would be beneficial, however any additional relevant experience working with children or adults with significant needs would also be considered.
The School
The school itself is well placed within the local area and has received consistently excellent feedback for the sense of community that it encourages through its strong Catholic values and approach to enacting positive change throughout the community. Furthermore, the school is Ofsted rated GOOD and provides an exceptional curriculum offering to its pupils, including a wide range of enrichment activities such as wellbeing sessions and a wide range of clubs. It is clear to see that this is a school that cares! In addition, this would be an excellent environment to develop expertise and progress, as the school itself is far larger than many similar schools within the local area.
