The Role: JLL are recruiting a senior High Voltage (HV) Engineer to work at their Bristol Rolls-Royce site to carry out routine and reactive maintenance on the electrical systems across the site. You will be responsible for the practical implementation and application of SSOW / Safety Rules on all sites, systems, and installations. As the Electrical Authorising Engineer, you'll have a role that's out of the ordinary. You'll be a subject matter expert for high voltage, low voltage, electrical systems, and equipment across the site.
Key Responsibilities:
1. Be responsible for the operation, isolation, discharging, and proving dead of systems and equipment within the limits specified on the Senior Authorised Persons Certificate of Appointment.
2. Identify known safety hazards based on the activities defined in the Method Statement and specify control measures to minimize potential risks.
3. Monitor/manage the routine and reactive maintenance for the HV (high voltage) and Low Voltage (LV) infrastructure, ensuring timely completion of remedial tasks.
4. Support the implementation of Electrical Safety, Systems, and Engineering Policy, Process, and Guidance for the UK.
5. Audit Engineers on the work that has been carried out and ensure compliance with statutory regulations and legislation.
6. Provide advice to procurement on the standards of contractors for electrical engineering.
7. Maintain great communication with Clients and Colleagues.
8. Assess all Integral directly employed Authorised Persons and Competent/Skilled Persons for their knowledge of electrical systems and technical competence.
9. Ensure that all systems and installations are operated and maintained in a safe condition, reporting any potentially dangerous situations to the site manager.
10. Maintain all records, registers, schedules, and schematic drawings related to systems within your area of responsibility.
11. Monitor electrical risks for the site and develop business cases to mitigate these risks.
12. Communicate updates to statutory regulations and best practices with stakeholders and site engineers/technicians.
13. Take on the role of company principal duty holder for the NIC EIC.
Qualification and Experience:
1. A valid High voltage (HV) AP Certification via an approved training provider.
2. NVQ Level 3 or equivalent in electrical engineering.
3. 5+ years of experience in technical delivery and management of electrical systems within a critical infrastructure.
4. HNC or equivalent qualification in engineering/management discipline.
5. Experience in leading a technical team in relation to Safe Systems of Works and Authorized activities such as HV.
6. Highly organized with the ability to work independently and manage own time effectively.
7. Full Clean Driving License.
8. A strong background in health and safety with IOSH managing safety certification.
9. Excellent IT Skills, particularly in Excel and presentation of technical data.
10. Meticulous attention to detail.
11. BS7671 - IET Wiring Regulation (18th Edition).
12. Electrical Test and Inspection 2391-52.
