Job Title: Quantity Surveyor (Mechanical or Electrical Bias)

A leading multidisciplinary design and build contractor with over 100 years of industry experience is seeking a Quantity Surveyor with a Mechanical or Electrical bias. With expertise across sectors such as Water, Power & Energy, Pharmaceutical, and Food & Beverage, the company is at the forefront of engineering innovation in the UK. This is a fantastic opportunity to work within a growing, specialist division, based primarily at the head office in Warrington, with site visits as required. The successful candidate will play a crucial role in managing the commercial aspects of multiple projects, ensuring contract margins are met and delivering outstanding service to clients.
Key Responsibilities:
• Assist in the commercial control of multiple projects to achieve expected contract margins.
• Prepare interim valuations, variations, final accounts, and internal weekly progress reports.
• Administer subcontract payment certificates and cost value reconciliations, ensuring adherence to contract notices.
• Conduct take-offs to identify changes in drawings, tender vs. as-built documents, and construction issues.
• Monitor subcontract costs, labour allocation, and prime costs to align project costs with contract margins.
• Utilize internal project databases to track labour, material, plant, and staff costs.
• Liaise with project planners to achieve payment milestones and conduct weekly measures.
• Apply risk management techniques and manage subcontract orders alongside Work Package Managers.
• Oversee material purchases to ensure they remain within tender allowances.
• Provide commercial insights and reporting to the senior management team.
• Undertake any additional duties required for the effective execution of the Quantity Surveyor role.
Skills & Experience Required:
Essential:
• Minimum of 5 years experience in a multi-discipline contracting organization.
• Familiarity with contract administration tools, such as CEMAR.
• Advanced Microsoft Excel skills.
• Full UK driving licence.
• Strong communication skills with the ability to influence and negotiate at senior levels.
Desirable:
• Experience working with NEC contract formats.
• Experience working within a framework contract.
