Detailed job description and main responsibilities
The successful applicant will require proven strengths in strategic thinking and/or finance to support the operational working of the Neurosciences unit at University Hospitals Southampton.
They will be an essential part of the Care Group Management team and would predominantly work within the team to write business cases promoting safe and effective services whilst considering financial implications and future service developments.
The role will entail much more than solely writing business cases; there will be opportunities to work alongside the transformation team and project manage developments and updates. Although finance knowledge will be beneficial, the applicants need to be of a curious disposition, ensuring that during projects and cases they are able to review services and consider other efficiencies and different support required to maintain and improve.
Working pattern can be discussed with individuals; however, there is a minimum expectation that the postholder will be required to be on site during some core working hours in the week to enable them to know and understand the services they are supporting.

Physical requirements of the post
* Health and physical abilities sufficient for the post (if necessary with reasonable adjustments with respect to the Equality Act/Disability Discrimination Act).
* Professional appearance in line with Trust policy.
Qualifications / training required
* Relevant Masters degree or equivalent level of experience and knowledge including experience in an NHS management or leadership role gaining specialist knowledge or managing complex service development programs/changes.
Aptitudes and skills required
* IT skills including word-processing and spreadsheets. Ability to assimilate complex information from a variety of sources to understand current processes and systems.
* Advanced PC skills in: PowerPoint, Databases, Complex spreadsheets, MS project (or similar).
* Analytical skills and knowledge, Data analysis, Use modelling tools.
Special requirements of the post
* Car driver, with full driving license, or ability to travel between hospital sites or for necessary visits.
* Flexible working arrangements to meet reasonable demands and deadlines within the post.

Previous or relevant experience necessary
* Demonstrable recent experience of working in an acute healthcare or equivalent setting in a senior operational deliver/management position.
* Evidence of successful leadership, management and engagement of clinical teams to introduce change in a complex setting.
* Knowledge of NHS finance to deliver balanced income and expenditure.
* Experience in CCG, clinical network or NHSE.
