* Lead the maintenance team to ensure preventative maintenance of all equipment.
* Manage contractors when specialised skills or additional people are required.
* Key areas of responsibility: safety and environmental compliance, energy utilization, production yield/waste, production cycle time, and associate and equipment utilization.
* Responsibility for the plant in Plant Manager absence.
General Responsibilities:
* Responsible for ensuring that work done in the engineering area is done quickly and safely minimizing downtime, with high-quality results, effective cost management, and in accordance with Good Manufacturing Practices.
* Responsible for helping to lead the Continuous Improvement Program for the Manchester plant, including identifying and implementing best practices from anywhere in the DDW system.
* Responsible for maintaining a safe and healthy working environment and leading the safety management programmes, including work with the location’s safety teams and committees.
* Supports environmental compliance from Engineering perspective.
* Responsible to oversee plant improvement projects (justification, priority, and specification). Ensures that facilities are maintained and improved as required, including general appearance and that routine maintenance is completed as required.
* Works with Plant Manager to ensure that GMP, Security systems, BRC standards and Preventive Maintenance standards are met.
* Manages any statutory inspections, liaisons with insurance companies and other duties in this area.
* Direct reporting responsibility for any engineering firms or contractors working on Manchester plant. Currently holds direct reporting responsibility for technicians.
Specific Responsibilities:
* Responsible for the engineering of new equipment installations, process innovations using cap ex procedures.
* Updating current maintenance system – effective tool.
* PSSR system & responsibilities and LOLER.
* 5 – 10 year plan for Plant CAPEX – currently 26 years old.
* Ensure technical drawings are up to date with support from external contractor (CAD).
* Interlock Procedures – review of extensive handbook documents.
Skill Requirements:
* Experience in technical and engineering functions.
* Minimum of a Bachelor's degree in (Maintenance/Electrical) Engineering.
* 8 – 10 Years experience in chemical industry and/or Food Manufacturing.
* Previous experience of leading maintenance team.
* Experience in defining, planning and managing project work.
* Excellent written and oral communication skills.
* Basic AutoCAD knowledge, ability to develop and update CAD drawings.
* Ability to make decisions quickly and effectively; Demonstrated strong judgment.
* Experience with process manufacturing equipment including: boilers, pressure vessels, pumps, dryers, Effluent Treatment, and automated control systems.
* Demonstrated ability to manage multiple priorities with pressured deadlines.
* Computerized maintenance experience.
