We are excited to be able to offer the opportunity to join East Riding Library and Customer Services working as the Beverley Library Supervisor.
This is a challenging position and requires someone who has a can-do attitude and strong organisational and management skills.
You will be:
1. Managing a team of library assistants (5.5fte) to deliver library services in the new Champney Treasure House.
2. Working alongside the Customer Service Centre co-located in the same area ensuring customers are handled seamlessly when visiting the building and moving between services.
3. Supporting staff with the new model of service delivery including encouraging take-up of the Library Now service which allows customers to access the library facilities on a Tuesday evening and all day Thursday when the library is unstaffed.
4. Supporting Librarians for delivery of initiatives within the library, e.g., The Health Agenda, STREAM activities, and the Universal Offers.
5. Providing excellent customer care, having a genuine enthusiasm for working with people of all ages, and being imaginative in delivering a modern library service.
6. The role can be physically demanding. You will be moving around the workplace, assisting customers, moving library stock to and from shelves, restocking display areas, and lifting/handling crates/boxes of library materials and caddy liners.
Regular duties include:
1. Day-to-day management of Beverley Library including Health and Safety, staff timetabling, and routine administration procedures.
2. Promoting library services to the local community.
3. Ensuring a safe site, adhering to risk assessments and conducting health & safety checks.
4. Supporting health and wellbeing initiatives.
5. Assisting the public to use IT resources.
6. Leading library groups & events virtually and in person.
7. Line management of staff.
8. Liaising with other departments within The Treasure House.
9. Performing the duties of a library assistant when necessary.
You will need to be flexible in meeting the needs of the service, opening the library for routine maintenance and attending training as required outside your usual hours.
Days of work are:
Monday, Wednesday & Friday 9:00am - 4:45pm
Tuesday 9:00am - 6:45pm
Saturday 8:45am - 4:15pm
